Our own savings & credit cooperative, for our own team

African Queen Staff SACCO is the internal savings and credit cooperative for the staff of African Queen (U) Distributors Ltd, Uganda's leading distributor of quality food, body care and stationery brands, run from our Namanve warehouse with a branch network including Mbarara.

Why we built it

Every day our drivers, warehouse teams, sales reps and office staff work to get the right products onto the right shelves across Uganda. This SACCO is how we look after them in return: a simple, transparent way for every staff member to save part of their income, build share capital in the cooperative, and borrow at fair terms when they need to, without the paper counter books and guesswork that most SACCOs still run on.

Every shilling saved here belongs to the member who saved it. The SACCO committee and treasurer can see the whole portfolio at a glance: who has saved what, who has borrowed, and who is falling behind, so decisions are made on real numbers, not memory.

What the system does

For the SACCO office

Member records with full KYC, savings, share capital, loans with amortised repayment schedules, arrears and portfolio-at-risk tracking, and reports for the committee and board, across both Namanve Head Office and Mbarara Branch.

For staff members

A mobile-friendly account where you can check your savings and share balances, follow your loan and repayment schedule, download a statement, and request a deposit or withdrawal without walking to the SACCO office.

How we treat your money and data

This system holds our colleagues’ savings, so it is built to be accountable rather than merely convenient:

Passwords and PINs are stored only as one-way hashes. Nobody, including the SACCO office, can read them.
A 4-digit PIN authorises every deposit, withdrawal, repayment and transfer, and locks after repeated incorrect attempts.
Every significant action is written to an audit trail recording who did it, when, and from where.
The whole service runs over an encrypted connection, and configuration and database files are blocked from the web entirely.
